Abstract

Media misinformation is one of the most prominent disadvantages of social media sites, which have become a hotbed for those who want to spread misleading information and news. Therefore, it was necessary to conduct more research on media misinformation in general and its goals in particular.In this study, the researcher used (the survey method), and the (structured interview) tool was used in order to know the goals of media misinformation, according to the guide of the Syrian Verify-Sy platform specialized in verifying misleading news. The problem of the study was summarized in the following question: What is the role of the Verify-Sy platform in detecting the goals of media misinformation on social media sites?Among the results reached by the researcher, the general objectives of media misinformation ranked first among the main objectives of misinformation, while the individual objectives ranked second.
