Malika Al-Fassi and her national role 1919-2007
Abstract
Malka Al-Fassi was considered the first Moroccan woman to call and urge Moroccan women to education and break the restrictions of customs and traditions, in addition to being the first Moroccan woman to join the ranks of the national movement through the National Party and then the Istiqlal Party during the era of the French protectorate, and then she founded the women’s movement with the support of the head of the party. Istiqlal Allal Al-Fassi used to hold a weekly meeting for the women’s movement, in the presence of a number of members of the Istiqlal Party, to raise their national awareness and urge them to contribute to the liberation of their country. Then, after Morocco’s independence in 1956, she retired from political work and devoted herself to humanitarian and social work until her death in 2007.
